This is an excerpt from my church journey. It's not perfect by any means :)
The church was tall and imposing with many stained glass windows, flickering in the sunlight. All around me were gravestones, covered in moss and inscriptions of the dead. Apparently the dead rose at night to kill humans, I didn’t believe it though. The church was just ahead of me. It smelt like damp wood and it had an air of something ancient. There were two lion shaped doorknobs each gilded with gold. I pulled both and the door swung open to reveal- a chamber.
To my confusion there were no seats, altar or organ in the corner. However I could hear something, a moan perhaps or a gentle whisper.
I started to walk inside. The doors banged shut and I was thrown into a fierce darkness, the sound of my boot steps matched the thud of my beating heart. I was alone. The chamber contained one object- a statue. What happened next was to chill me to the bone. A tear ran down the statue’s cheek, but not just any tear-it was blood. Suddenly, the whisper I heard started to scream. “Run,” it said. “Run!!”

Hi all
Hi, this is my first ever post. One of my greatest passions is writing. I have had writers block, it lasted a month and basically I couldn't write at all. Sitting at the computer was daunting, however if you ever get writers block I have discovered how to overcome it. It may not work for everyone, but it worked for me. Basically I went on a kind of journey, I started with a place (I chose a church) and I wrote everything I could about the church. The sights, sounds, smells and how I felt. Next I imagined walking inside, I then described everything inside the church and an event. Now, you don't have to choose a church, but you must write freely and don't be judgemental no matter what you come up with. After this exercise I felt much happier and I'd actually written a load of dribble, but it freed the block. In my view, if you have a block, don't try to write a bestseller. Take it slowly and write just a paragraph to a page about one thing. Hope this helps anyone who has writers block. You have to be strong, because it can be overcome, everyone is unique and gifted in their own way. Thanks for reading this. Jen.
